2007-2010 Chevy Silverado 2500HD -3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD -3500HD AIRAID Air Intake

Owners of 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 GM trucks equipped with the 6.6L Duramax engine know the trucks were built for hauling, and most of them work their trucks hard. The V-8 Duramax offers great power and mountains of torque, which is perfect for towing anything from a big camper on vacation to a backhoe to the jobsite. Diesels were meant to work, but they also demand enormous amounts of air to get all of those heavy loads moving. The factory intake systems on these trucks do a good job of filtering outside air, but they place a priority on quiet engine operation over keeping the engine supplied with unlimited amounts of cold air. Knowing the extreme demands that diesel engines can place on a stock intake system, AIRAID has developed a full line of cold air intake systems that are designed to improve airflow to Duramax engines without sacrificing filtration. AIRAID’s top-of-the-line MXP cold air intakes often grab the majority of the attention, but AIRAID offers some more affordable alternatives with the cold air dam (CAD) intake system for 2007-2010 GM Duramax-powered trucks. When comparing AIRAID’s 200-219 MXP system to the 200-215 CAD system, it’s easy to see why the MXP system is usually the one attracts attention. To be sure, it’s feature-packed, with a new intake tube, roto-molded air box, and other premium components. If budget is not a main concern, then the MXP system is a fantastic choice. But for those looking to improve power and efficiency on a budget, it’s hard to go wrong with AIRAID’s CAD system. The AIRAID CAD system for 2007-2010 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD targets the most restrictive portions of the factory intake system: the air box and the filter. As mentioned earlier, the factory system was designed around quieting engine noise, and as a result it contains baffles that hinder airflow, so engine performance can suffer. The AIRAID system starts by replacing the factory air box with cold air dam panels, which keep the air filter isolated from hot engine compartment air while unshrouding the engine intake in order to improve airflow. These panels make use of the factory cold air inlet duct but also add a massive amount of additional forward-facing surface area for additional cool outside air to reach the filter without restriction. A filter adapter mounts to the panels and connects to the factory intake tube, but the adapter also includes a velocity stack to further promote airflow. Positioned inside the cold air dam panels is the heart of the AIRAID system: the premium air filter. The system is available with a traditional oiled filter in red (200-215), or with a SynthaMax dry filter in red (201-215), blue (203-215), or black (202-215). The filter was developed specifically for Duramax applications and makes use of all the available space in order to maximize the amount of surface area for filter media. The larger the surface area, the greater the volume of air that a filter is capable of flowing without introducing restrictions. Because the filter is so large, the AIRAID CAD system works well with both stock applications and ones that have been upgraded with other performance-enhancing modifications, such as a larger turbo. The filter used in the CAD system is identical to the one in AIRAID’s MXP system. Though the MXP system offers several more features, the AIRAID CAD system is perfect for budget-conscious applications. The 200-215, 201-215, 202-215, and 203-215 AIRAID CAD systems are available for the following vehicle applications, all of which have a CARB EO number D-609-5 and are therefore legal to use in all 50 states: 2010 GMC SIERRA 3500 HD 6.6L V8 DIESEL - All For more information on Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD cold air intake systems, visit the air intakes page for those respective vehicles.
