NMCA WEST / VP Racing Fuels Street Car Nationals 2016 Championship Award Ceremony
NMCA WEST / VP Racing Fuels Street Car Nationals 2016 Championship Award Ceremony
Jan 26, 2017
Vic Edelbrock Jr.'s daughter, Camee, sharing an uplifting message from her mom and dad
This past weekend we stepped into Vic’s Garage at the famed Edelbrock Museum to be a part of NMCA West’s 2016 Championship Awards Ceremony honoring the fastest and finest that the West Coast has to offer.
NMCA West Street Car Nationals is entering its 6th season and features 12 drag classes for racers to compete in from Sportsman to Pro Comp and everything in between. As part of this amazing 4 race series held at the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, California, NMCA West & Hotchkis Sports Suspension will bring back the Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series presented by Nitto, that has been such a huge success as part of this series.
The evening started with a couple hundred autocross competitors and racers, plus dozens of series sponsors enjoying Vic Edelbrock Jr.’s Museum and Car Collection in Torrance, California. Steve Wolcott of Promedia Events, the NMCA Series Promoter, was on hand to get the party started. He had the distinct honor of introducing the series' major sponsors and of course the man of the hour, the events host and emcee Brian Lohnes, the Co-Creator of Bangshift, announcer for NHRA and the NHRA on Fox Pro Mod Show. Close to 150 awards were given in recognition for the racers achievements.
AIRAID driver Jordan Priestley shares a few words or experience and quite a few "thank yous"
You may recall that our AIRAID-sponsored team driver, Jordan Priestley managed to compete in more than 25 different events in his AIRAID equipped 6th Gen Camaro “Evilynn”. With 4 successful NMCA West Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series events under his belt, Priestley walked away with the Modern Muscle Class Championship as well as the grand prize, the coveted Hotchkis Cup and the title of Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series Champion. To be eligible to win the Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series Championship a competitor must participate in all 4 two-day events and be consistent, consistently fast that is, yielding the greatest number of points to keep them at the top. That is the equivalent to 8 days of racing autocross with some of the series' most capable and talented drivers. In addition, your ride needs to keep up on all 8 days! For some folks, 8 events equals an entire race season. Not for Jordan! Our AIRAID team driver managed to race 20 other events, some of which were also 2-day events.
