Quick Intake Upgrade Solutions for Nissan Armanda, Nissan Titan, and Infiniti QX56

NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN Armada Air Intake

Having been on the market for over a decade, the AIRAID 520-152 CAD intake remains a popular choice for Nissan Titan and Armada owners looking for quick and easy ways to improve performance and efficiency of the potent 5.6L V-8 engine.

Nissan’s foray into the full-size truck and SUV world has been solid over the years, with both the Nissan Titan and the Armada having a faithful following. The 5.6L V-8 engine in these trucks makes plenty of power, and the overall styling and interior all adds up to solid trucks and SUVs that remain popular. Nissan wisely chose to leave well enough alone with these popular trucks, meaning they are essentially unchanged across a nearly 10-year span. But like all vehicles, there’s always more power to be found under the hood, and Titan and Armada owners have long-ago figured out that a cold air intake system is a quick and easy way to wake up the 5.6L and improve power. AIRAID was one of the first to market with a cold air dam system for these trucks when they were released in 2004. Dubbed the Quick-Fit, it was an affordable, easy solution to picking up performance. AIRAID has subsequently released a more fully featured MXP cold air intake system for 2004-2014 Titans and Armadas with the 520-284 intake, but the original 520-152, 521-152, 522-152, and 523-152 CAD systems remain popular, cost-effective solutions for improving performance and efficiency for Nissan full-size trucks.

NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN Armada Ram Intake

To tailor the intake system to individual tastes and build preferences, AIRAID offers the 522-152 system that includes a Synthamax non-oiled filter in black, as well as a 523-152 system with a blue filter. The intake kit is also available with red oiled or non-oiled filters.

The AIRAID cold air dam system works by targeting the most restrictive portion of the factory intake system: the air box and air filter. New cold air dam panels replace the upper portion of the factory intake box. They snap into the lower half of the factory intake box, enabling the system to retain the use of the factory cold air inlet duct in the fenderwell. Weather stripping is positioned on top of the CAD panels that seals against the hood when it is closed; the system uses the hood as the “lid” for the air box. These panels keep the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air while also adding a very large forward-facing area for additional cool outside air to reach the filter. The panels also create additional room for a larger air filter, which is the key part of improving performance.

NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN Armada Air Intake Filter

The Nissan Titan and Armada intakes utilize a 700-458 premium AIRAID cone-style filter, which is a key ingredient for improving performance. Featuring a flange diameter of 4 inches and a 7-inch length, the filter is sized perfectly to feed the 5.6L V-8 engine for thousands of miles without restricting airflow.

A special filter adapter was developed for the Titan and Armada that connects to the AIRAID CAD panels. This filter adapter incorporates a mount for the factory MAF sensor, which is transferred from the original air box to the AIRAID piece. It enables the factory intake tube to be retained and is also sized to accept the premium AIRAID filter inside the revised air box configuration. As with most AIRAID systems, the modifications are simple and require no drilling or trimming, making it easy for the vehicle to be returned to stock if desired.

NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN Armada Air Intake Filter Wrap

The unshrouded design of the AIRAID CAD system allows a more direct path for cool outside air to reach the engine, but it also means dirt and contaminants can reach the filter. Consider adding a 799-456 pre-filter, which extends filter service intervals and keeps larger debris away from the air filter itself. The AIRAID pre-filter can simply be rinsed off periodically.

The heart of the system is the AIRAID premium filter, which improves airflow without sacrificing filtration. The AIRAID cone-style performance filter offers more surface area for filter media compared to the factory flat-panel paper filter, which means the filter is capable of flowing more air without introducing restrictions to the intake system. The AIRAID Quick-Fit system for the Titan and Armada (and Infiniti QX-56 variant) is available with four different filters. The 520-152 system includes a red filter with AIRAID’s SynthaFlow oiled filter media, while the 521-152 system includes a red filter with AIRAID’s SynthaMax dry filter media that does not require oil. The 522-152 system includes a SynthaMax dry filter in black, while the 523-152 system includes a dry filter in blue. These filters filter the same and flow within 5% of one another, so the best filter to use really depends on personal preference. All of AIRAID’s filters are washable and reusable while carrying a lifetime warranty.

The 520-152, 521-152, 522-152, and 523-152 CAD systems fit the following vehicles:

Boosting Up Ford F-150 EcoBoost Power with AIRAID’s MXP Cold Air Intake

FORD F150 Air Intake

The 400-338 and 401-338 AIRAID MXP cold air intake system for 2015-2016 Ford F-150s is a complete kit that includes a new intake tube, roto-molded sealed air box with a cold air scoop, and a premium AIRAID filter. It installs easily using simple hand tools and requires no modifications.

The 2015 Ford F-150 hit the market by storm in 2014. An array of EcoBoost V-6 and 5.0L V-8 engine choices, plus use of advanced lightweight materials such as aluminum body panels, mean the latest generation F-150 produces more power for hauling and towing while tipping the scales lower than any previous generation F-150. While there’s always talk about the 5.0L Coyote engine, Ford’s advanced EcoBoost engines have gathered their fair share of attention, boasting V-8 power with V-6 fuel economy. In truth, the EcoBoost is a great choice for any F-150 that is used for daily commuting and occasionally being put to work towing campers or toys to the desert or woods. It delivers great mileage when unloaded, yet has the grunt to haul impressive payloads when needed. But those EcoBoost twin-turbos tend to be noisy, and Ford placed an emphasis on priority on keeping those turbos quiet rather than keeping them adequately fed with air. As a result, the factory intake system introduces significant restrictions that can hurt power. Fortunately for EcoBoost owners, AIRAID has picked up where the factory left off with an MXP Cold air intake system for 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150s with 2.7L and 3.5L V-6 engines that make big power gains right out of box. Best of all, the upgrade is a simple bolt-on installation and is legal for use in all 50 states, including California and other states adopting California emissions standards.

FORD F150 Air Intake Filter

The 720-243 and 721-243 premium air filters used with the EcoBoost F-150 intakes are sized to keep the twin turbos adequately fed without introducing restrictions. Both filters are washable and reusable while carrying AIRAID’s exclusive “No Hassle” warranty.

The AIRAID MXP cold air intake system starts with a new bifurcated intake tube that connects the air box to the turbos. This new intake tube was designed using advance software to optimize airflow to the turbos and keep them fed with an adequate supply of air without introducing turbulence or restrictions to the intake paths. The new intake tube includes provisions for any sensors and fittings that are present with the factory system, so there are no major modifications needed. Simply remove the factory tube and replace it with the AIRAID piece to improve airflow.

With the restrictions in the factory tube design addressed, AIRAID engineers moved on to the air box itself. The twin turbos on the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost engines are fed with a giant one-piece roto-molded intake box assembly that replaces the factory unit. The shape of the air box is designed to promote airflow all the way around the premium filter inside and also includes a cold air scoop that mounts to the top of the core support. This forward-facing inlet scoop draws in cool outside air and is sized to make use of all the available space so that plenty of air is able to reach the filter. The sealed box design features an aluminum lid to help keep the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air, while servicing the filter is easy by removing the four stainless steel retaining screws. The aluminum lid is even insulated to further prevent underhood heat transfer. Like the intake tube, no modifications are required to mount the new air box assembly, and installation requires only simple hand tools.

FORD F150 Air Intake Dyno Chart

This dyno chart for a 2015 Ford F-150 equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 and AIRAID’s 301-338 MXP cold air intake system shows impressive gains of an estimated 33HP at 5000 rpm and 35 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. As noted, the gains are across the rpm range and are not just peak power.

Inside the roto-molded intake box for the 2015 and 2016 EcoBoost-powered F-150s is the heart of the system: the premium AIRAID filter. Forced induction systems like twin turbos require enormous amounts of air in order to make power, and keeping up with them requires a filter that is properly sized to maintain effective filtration without introducing restrictions. The 720-243 and 721-243 AIRAID filter was specially developed for EcoBoost F-150 applications to do just that: the enormous filter makes use of all available space inside the intake box and features much more surface area for filter media. That increased surface area is the key to keeping the turbos fed on 2.7L and 3.5L applications. The filter features heavy-duty polyurethane casings that won’t crack or warp over time, and the filter itself is available with a variety of media. The 300-338 EcoBoost F-150 intake includes a SynthaFlow oiled filter in red, which has four layers of cotton gauze plus an additional synthetic layer to provide additional filtration. The 401-338 EcoBoost intake features a SynthaMax dry filter in red, which requires no oil when servicing. Both filter types filter the same and flow within 5% of one another, and both are washable and reusable. With the EcoBoost F-150 intakes, which filter is preferable is really a matter of personal preference; the oiled filters will traditionally do a little longer between cleanings, while the SynthaMax dry filters are easier to maintain since it’s not necessary to re-apply oil to the filter after cleaning. Both filters are a great choice for 2015 and 2016 F-150s.

AIRAID FORD F150 Air Intake Dyno Chart

Like the 3.5L EcoBoost, a 2015 Ford F-150 with a 2.7L EcoBoost posted an estimated 25HP gain at 5200 rpm and an increase of 25 lb-ft of torque at 4300 rpm with the 400-338 AIRAID intake and no other modifications done to the vehicle. Also note that air/fuel ratios (AFRs) remained consistent and safe regardless of the rpm.

The best news of all is that all of the advanced technology AIRAID applied to the EcoBoost F-150 intakes new huge real-world gains! A 2015 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost made increases of 33 horsepower and 35 lb-ft of torque, while a 2015 F-150 with the 2.7L EcoBoost made increases of 24 horsepower and 25 lb-ft of torque. Those gains were measured on our in-house Mustang chassis dyno, and were not all at peak power. Indeed, consistent improvements can be seen across the rpm range and while maintaining excellent air/fuel ratios. View the dyno sheets for yourself to see the significant power improvements a simple AIRAID intake upgrade can make with no other modifications needed. Like most AIRAID systems, the MXP intake for the 2015 and 2016 F-150 improves performance right out of the box with no tuning required.

The 400-338 and 401-338 AIRAID MXP cold air intakes fit the following applications, and note that they are legal for use in all 50 states with CARB EO number D-609-17:

2016 FORD F150 3.5L V6 F/I - Turbo
2016 FORD F150 2.7L V6 F/I - All
2015 FORD F150 3.5L V6 F/I - Turbo
2015 FORD F150 2.7L V6 F/I - All

Quick Upgrades for 2002-2005 Dodge Ram Trucks with AIRAID’s Quick-Fit Intake System

DODGE RAM Cold Air Intake

The AIRAID Quick Fit system for 2002-2005 Dodge Ram gas V-8 trucks includes cold air dam panels that snap into the lower half of the factory intake box, weather stripping that seals against the hood, and a premium AIRAID filter.

The second-generation Ram pickup was a game-changer for Dodge at a time when it was desperately needed. While the first-generation Rams had a small but loyal following, sales had dwindled with both Chevrolet and Ford releasing fresh designs for their trucks and coupling them with powerful drivetrain choices. Dodge needed to make a statement with the new Ram; they needed something bold and different than what the General and Ford were offering if they expected to remain a player in the full-size truck market. The release of the second-generation Ram was all of that, with love-it or hate-it styling and a refreshing variety of engine and transmission choices. Though the Magnum 318s and 360s weren’t really all that new, the 5.9L Cummins engine was starting to gather steam in the marketplace, and all of those engines were backed with good transmissions. The big-rig styling of the second-generation Dodge, with its prominent grille and lowered headlights, proved to be a huge hit and sales skyrocketed for the Ram. By the time another redesign came around in 2002, Ram engineers had very different concerns from those in the early 1990s: how to keep the momentum going rather than trying to breathe new life into a dying marque.

DODGE RAM Ram Intake

In addition to traditional oiled and dry filters in red, 300-125-1 and 301-125-1, AIRAID offers systems with dry filters in black (shown) with part number 302-125-1 or blue with part number 303-125-1.

The third generation Ram released in 2002, received a mild facelift but still had the aggressive big-rig styling that had by that time become a Dodge signature. Though the old Magnum 5.9L pushrod V-8 was still offered, the smaller V-8 option was replaced with a new 4.7L overhead cam engine that made more power and delivered better dual economy than the previous 5.2L pushrod V-8. A 3.7L V-6 option was added to Ram 1500s, but the biggest news for second-generation Ram owners was the introduction of the 5.7L Hemi V-8, which replaced the 5.9L Magnum, in 2003. The return of the Hemi, in more modern form, was a welcome addition to the Ram lineup as well as other PentaStar platforms.

DODGE RAM Air Intake

For those seeking a cold air intake system that includes a replacement intake tube for 2002-2005 V-6 and V-8 Dodge Rams, AIRAID offers the 300-150 intake, which utilizes the same CAD panels as the Quick Fit system but adds an intake tube. AIRAID also has an MXP system available with 300-220 for many of the same Dodge Ram applications.

Regardless of the engine options, however, the factory intake systems placed a priority on quiet operation over maximizing airflow, and the engines were not able to make as much power as they potentially could as a result. AIRAID was quick to recognize the shortcomings of the factory intake design and released a full line of cold air intake systems for 2002-2005 Dodge Ram 1500s, 2500s, and 3500s that all helped improve airflow and therefore the performance of the V-6 and V-8 engines available in these trucks. There are sometimes as many as three different AIRAID intake options depending on the year and engine application, and all of them have different features with price points to match. The AIRAID Quick-Fit system represents the simplest and most cost effective way to improve airflow to 3.7L, 4.7L, 5.7L, and 5.9L engines in third generation Ram trucks.

AIRAID DODGE RAM Cold Air Intake Air Filter

The AIRAID Quick-Fit system for 2002-2005 Ram trucks utilizes a 700-445 premium AIRAID filter that measures 8” tall with a flange diameter of 4.5”, which is more than enough to feed both V-6 and V-8 applications. This same filter is available with dry filter media in red, blue, or black.

The AIRAID Quick Fit system targets the most restrictive portions of the factory intake: the air box and the filter. AIRAID utilizes cold air dam panels in place of the factory upper half of the intake box. These panels snap into the lower half of the box and are held in place with the provided hardware, while weather stripping is positioned along the top of the panels. The weather stripping seals against the underside of the hood when closed, essentially making the hood the “lid” for the revised air box assembly. This design enables the kit to make use of the factory cold air inlet duct in the lower half of the factory box but also adds a large forward-facing area for cool outside air to reach the filter. The panels also incorporate a filter adapter, which connects the factory intake tube to the premium air filter inside. The simple design requires no drilling or trimming, and installation can be performed in under half an hour using simple hand tools.

Inside the cold air dam panels is the heart of the system: the premium AIRAID filter. All AIRAID filters feature durable polyurethane casings that resist cracking and warping to ensure a long-lasting seal that doesn’t compromise filtration. Interior and exterior wire mesh screens help give the filter media shape and also protect it from damage. As for the filter media itself, there are a few options available. The 300-125-1 Quick-Fit system includes a SynthaFlow filter that utilizes traditional oiled filter media with four layers of cotton gauze, plus a synthetic layer. The synthetic layer helps maintain effective filtration and helps keep the oil suspended in the filter media. The 301-125-1 intake system includes a SynthaMax dry filter, which contains multiple layers of a synthetic material in red, while the 302-125-1 and 303-125-1 cold air intakes for 3rd generation Dodge trucks include dry filters in black and blue, respectively.

DODGE RAM Cold Air Intake Air Filter Wrap

To complete the system, consider adding a 799-445 pre-filter. An optional upgrade, a pre-filter helps extend the service intervals of the filter by trapping larger debris before it gets caught in the filter media.

Owners of 2002-2005 Dodge Ram V-8 trucks seeking a complete system with a replacement intake tube might also consider the 300-150 cold air dam system, or the 300-220 MXP intake. These systems fit many of the same applications and are fully-featured solutions, but the 300-125-1 intake and its variants remain a great choice for budget-conscious owners.

2008-2011 Cadillac CTS with an AIRAID Cold Air Intake System Turns Into a Real Powerhouse

AIRAID 252-252C cold air dam performance intake for the 2008-2011 Cadillac CTS

The AIRAID 252-252C cold air dam performance intake is engineered to increase the horsepower and torque produced by the 2008-2011 Cadillac CTS 3.6L.

When the Cadillac CTS was first introduced in 2003, it took the world by storm. This was the first Caddy that wasn't designed for the Bingo set, and it had the performance to match its edgy looks. The second generation CTS was launched for 2008, and it took the design and build quality to a whole new level. Power in the based model was initially supplied by a 263-hp 3.6L V6, but direct injection was added to the Cadillac 3.6L VVT V6 in 2010 and that muscle jumped to 304-hp. For the first time in history, Cadillac had a midsize luxury car that could compete with the best from Europe and Japan. But no matter how good the 2008-2011 Cadillac CTS was in stock form, an AIRAID 252-252C cold air dam intake system can turn it into a world class performer.

AIRAID pre-filter wrap for the Cadillac CTS

The AIRAID pre-filter wrap protects your air filter from fine dirt, and extends the cleaning intervals if you drive in dirty/dusty environments.

In order to turn gasoline into horsepower, air has to be present inside the cylinders for it to burn. The air is piped in through the factory air intake system, which collects it from a small opening at the bottom of the air box. It then passes through a thick paper air filter, before traveling to the engine through a narrow plastic intake tube. Problem is, the uneven surfaces inside the intake tube and that OE Cadillac CTS air filter restricts airflow and limits the amount of power that the engine can make. To increase horsepower, the warm, turbulent air provided by the stock system, needs to be replaced by a steady stream of cold air. The additional oxygen molecules in the cold air allow the fuel to burn more completely during detonation. This releases more energy/horsepower from the gas, without decreasing fuel economy. An AIRAID 252-252C cold air dam intake system is designed to deliver this power-rich cold air, and save you money in the process.

The AIRAID 252-252C cold air dam intake fits in place of the stock intake system, so it can be installed without making any modifications. In place of the stock air box sits an oversized SynthaMax air filter, that is surrounded by a heat shield to prevent warm engine bay air from entering the system. The large surface area of the filter allows it to collect more cold air and, depending on road conditions, the dual-layer synthetic material can hold dirt for 30,000-50,000 miles before it needs to be cleaned (so no more buying those expensive Cadillac air filters). Once the air has been cleaned, it flows into a wide-diameter, carbon fiber AIRAID intake tube that's been specially designed to provide a smooth, turbulence-free airflow path. The intake tube also has all the necessary fittings for the stock sensors.

All of this adds up to a cold air intake system that can provide more horsepower and torque, faster throttle response, and a reusable air filter that's backed by a No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty.

Benefits of the AIRAID 252-252C CAD Performance Intake:

  • Engineered exclusively for the 2008-2011 Cadillac CTS 3.6L
  • Increases horsepower
  • Increases torque
  • Allows for faster throttle response
  • Enables 3.6L VVT V6 to make more power at low RPMs
  • Reusable synthetic AIRAID SynthaMax air filter won't need to be cleaned for up to 30,000-50,000 miles (depending on road conditions)
  • Carbon fiber AIRAID intake tube has integrated sensor fittings
  • Installation only takes about 90 minutes because no modifications are required
  • Covered by the AIRAID No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty

The AIRAID 252-252C CAD Performance Intake fits the following Cadillac CTS models:

2011 Cadillac CTS 3.6L V6
2010 Cadillac CTS 3.6L V6

The AIRAID Quick-Fit systems for 2004-2007 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are available with a SynthaFlow oiled filter in red as well as a SynthaMax dry filter in red, blue, or black. All four filter options filter the same and offer almost identical performance; one is simply re-oiled after servicing, while the others are not.

AIRAID's Quick-Fit cold air intake system for the 2004-2007 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon targets the most restrictive portion of the factory intake systems on the 2.8L/2.9L I-4 and 3.5L/3.7L I-5 engines: the factory air box and air filter. The factory air box places a priority on canceling intake noise from the engine, but it does so at the cost of providing enough airflow to the engine that would enable it to run at peak efficiency. The stock paper filter, on the other hand, does an adequate job of filtering outside air, but its compact size also means that it can struggle with supplying the engine with adequate airflow, especially in dirty environments where the filter can become clogged with contaminants.

The AIRAID Quick-Fit system replaces these components while working in concert with the rest of the factory intake system to improve airflow to the engine. New cold air dam panels replace the upper portion of the factory air box and snap into the lower half of the factory box, which is retained. This design enables the kit to utilize the factory cold air inlet duct in the fender well while also adding an additional forward-facing area for cool outside air to reach the filter. These cold air dam panels keep the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air, and the sealing is further enhanced with weather stripping placed along the top of the panels. The weather stripping seals against the hood when closed, providing an effective barrier against engine heat.

AIRAID 799-456 pre-filter

To further extend service intervals, consider installing a 799-456 pre-filter with this intake system. The pre-filter is especially beneficial in dirty environments and can double the service intervals of a filter when cared for properly.

Inside the CAD panels, AIRAID positions a premium air filter available with a variety of different filter media choices. The 200-142 system includes a traditional oiled filter media that uses AIRAID's SynthaFlow technology. The 201-142 Quick Fit system includes a red filter with AIRAID's SynthaMax dry filter media that does not require oiling, and SynthaMax filters are also available in black with the 202-142 intake as well as blue with the 203-142 system. Regardless of which filter is chosen, all of them provide excellent airflow without sacrificing filtration. They are also washable and reusable while being backed by AIRAID's exclusive "No-Hassle" warranty.
