2013 and 2014 Ford Focus 2.0L with AIRAID Filter Unlocks it's Hidden Performance

AIRAID 863-408 replacement air filter for the 2013-2014 Ford Focus ST & 2013-2014 Ford Focus 2.0L

The AIRAID 863-408 direct fit replacement air filter for the 2013-2014 Ford Focus ST & 2013-2014 Ford Focus 2.0L.

Believe it or not, the 2013-2014 Ford Focus was the best-selling car on planet earth. Thanks to increased demand from China, Ford sold over 1 million copies in 2013. That's 2 cars sold every minute, which is a lot. Many engines were available, but two of the most popular was the gas-powered 2.0L 4-cylinder. The 2013-2014 Ford Focus S, 2013-2014 Ford Focus SE, and 2013-2014 Ford Focus Titanium could be had with a 160-hp 2.0L that came with such novel features as direct injection and Twin-Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT). The hot 2013-2014 Ford Focus ST came with a much more potent 2.0L EcoBoost, which sported a special low-inertia turbo that could deliver a stout 252-hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Both versions of the Ford 2.0L offer excellent performance for their respective models. But if you simply install an AIRAID 863-408 direct fit replacement air filter, you could get a lot more power from your modern Model T.

When an engine ignites gasoline inside the cylinders, oxygen has to be present in order for it to burn. The air is piped in through the intake system, which delivers outside air directly to the manifold. In order to ensure that no contaminants get inside the cylinders, the air must first pass through a thick paper OE air filter that's located inside the air box. These are called 'surface loading' filters, because any dirt they remove, stays on the surface of the filter. Over time, this buildup will start to reduce the airflow and cut power. That thick paper filter media also limits the volume of air that can flow through it, even when it's clean. So your little Ford may have never been able to live up to its true performance potential.

To reduce airflow restrictions and improve performance, the AIRAID 863-408 direct fit replacement air filter uses special synthetic filter media called SynthaMax. This proprietary material consists of two layers, which are designed to stop dirt particles. The first layer of needlefelt polyester captures larger dirt particles deep inside its web of synthetic fibers. The second layer of chemical bonded rayon and polyester is engineered to stop any smaller contaminants that make it past the first layer. This dual-layer protection ensures that your engine is getting the cleanest air possible. It's also a 'depth loading' filter, which means the dirt is stored inside the material, allowing for unrestricted airflow even as the filter gets dirty. Then every 30,000-50,000 miles (depending on road conditions), you simply remove the filter from the air box and clean it using the AIRAID 790-558 filter tune-up kit.

Since the AIRAID 863-408 direct fit replacement air filter fits in place of the OE air filter, no under-hood modifications are required. It won't void your factory warranty either, and it comes with a No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty. So if you're ready for a reusable air filter that will actually improve the performance of your Ford Focus, this AIRAID SynthaMax performance air filter is for you.

2000-2003 Dodge 4.7L Magnum V8 with an AIRAID Cold Air Intake Adds Power

AIRAID 302-117 cold air dam performance intake is designed to help your Dodge 4.7L Magnum V8

The AIRAID 302-117 cold air dam performance intake is designed to help your Dodge 4.7L Magnum V8 make more power at lower RPMs.

First introduced in the mid-1960's, Chrysler's small-block V8 engines have powered everything from sports cars to commercial trucks. After three decades of service, it was replaced at the turn of the last century by the 4.7L Magnum V8. The new engine featured lots of lightweight materials, and a modern fuel injection system that allowed it to reach emissions targets without sacrificing power. In the 2000-2003 Dodge Durango and 2000-2003 Dodge Dakota, the new Dodge 4.7L V8 made 235-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, which was slightly more horsepower than the 5.2L Magnum V8 that it replaced. For those who want a bit more 'ram tough-ness' from their Magnum V8, the AIRAID 302-117 cold air dam performance intake is designed to unlock horsepower and torque that gets lost in the restrictive OE intake system. Plus, it might actually save you some money in the long run.

722-440 air filter with the 302-117 intake system

AIRAID includes the washable and reusable 722-440 air filter with the 302-117 intake system.

An engine makes power by combining air and fuel inside the cylinders. When a spark plug ignites the mixture, the oxygen gets consumed by the flame, and the resulting energy forces the piston down, turning the crankshaft, and ultimately the wheels. To increase the amount of energy (aka horsepower) that is released during combustion, you simply need to add more cold air to the mixture. Since cold air has more oxygen molecules than warm air, the detonation will be much more forceful, allowing your 4.7L Magnum to generate more horsepower and torque, from roughly the same amount of fuel. The AIRAID 302-117 cold air dam performance intake delivers a higher volume of cold air to the cylinders by replacing the restrictive factory air box and paper air filter, with a free-flowing cold air intake system.

The key to the AIRAID 302-117 cold air dam performance intake is the innovative cold air dam that surrounds the high-flow SynthaMax air filter. It's been powder coated to withstand heat and features a special top gasket that self-seals against the underside of the hood when it's closed. This creates a cold air chamber that directs the flow of oxygen into the synthetic AIRAID air filter. Dual layers of proprietary synthetic material filter out contaminants without impeding airflow, and this performance air filter won't have to be cleaned for 30,000-50,000 miles. Plus, the entire system can be installed in about 90 minutes, using simple hand tools.

AIRAID makes the 799-440 filter wrap for the 302-117 intake kit

For added protection in harsh environments, AIRAID makes the 799-440 filter wrap for the 302-117 intake kit.

With a high volume of cold air flowing into the cylinders, your Durango 4.7L or Dakota 4.7L will be able to make more power at lower RPMs. This will save you money on gas, provided you can keep your right foot in check. You'll also save money on replacement air filters, because the supplied AIRAID SynthaMax air filter is reusable, and even comes with a No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty. AIRAID also makes other Dodge Durango and Dodge Dakota performance parts, which you can check out by using the AIRAID search by vehicle tool.

GMC Sierra/Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD & 3500 with Air Intake Increases Duramax Diesel Torque

AIRAID 202-129 cold air dam performance intake for the 6.6L Duramax engine

The AIRAID 202-129 cold air dam performance intake is designed to reduce airflow restrictions and increase torque in the 6.6L Duramax.

Put simply, torque is the wheel-turning power that gets your truck moving, and horsepower is what keeps it moving. Turbodiesel engines like the 6.6L Duramax are able to provide gobs of torque because a giant turbo is amplifying the already ample torque that's being produced during the diesel combustion cycle. Increasing the amount of cold air going into the turbo helps the engine to create even more torque, which will reduce engine strain and allow you to haul and tow with ease. Diesel cold air intake systems, like the AIRAID 202-129 cold air dam performance intake system, reduce airflow restrictions and increase your torque to the DuraMax. Plus, it will save you a bunch of money in the process.

Filter wrap for AIRAID 202-129 cold air dam performance intake for the 6.6L Duramax engine

For dusty conditions, AIRAID recommends the use of a filter wrap, like the 799-469, which is designed for the 202-129 kit.

The stock air intake system on the 2001-2004 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500/3500 & GMC Sierra HD 2500/3500 uses a narrow intake tube with lots if tight bends and an air box that's only able to feed a limited amount of air into the thick paper air filter. The AIRAID 202-129 intake on the other hand, collects a higher volume of cold air by using an oversized SynthaMax air filter, surrounded by a self-sealing heat shield. That power-rich oxygen gets sent down a wide diameter AIRAID intake tube that's been roto-molded to reduce restrictions, so the air arrives at the cylinders in a steady stream, instead of in turbulent bursts. This allows your 6.6L Duramax LB7 to produce more torque throughout the rpm-band. It also enables it to make the torque at lower rpm's.

Along with making power, the AIRAID 202-129 saves you money because the AIRAID SynthaMax performance air filter is reusable. It uses two layers of specially blended synthetic material, to trap dirt and keep it there until you clean it.Larger dirt particles get ensnared in the top layer, while smaller contaminants get trapped in the second layer. Because the dirt is stored inside the filter, air can continue to flow through even when it is dirty. Then when it's time to clean the filter, you simply un-clamp it from the intake system, and clean it using the 790-558 AIRAID cleaning solution. This means you no longer have to buy those expensive OE air filters, and you even get a No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty.

Use the AIRAID search by vehicle tool to find other Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra performance parts.

AIRAID Universal Performance Air Filter with Mounting Bracket is Literally Bolt-On Power

AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter with mounting bracket

The AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter can turn up the performance on a custom build.

Shortly after the turn of the 20th century, automobiles, airplanes, and airships (giant blimps) were turning the world on its preverbal ear. Gasoline engines were "powering the future", but the technology was truly in its infancy. To make lots of horsepower, you had to burn lots of gas. Most airplane and airship engines of the period were massive things, with 4-6 cylinders that displaced 20-40 liters. Output was only around 200-300-hp, but the torque was mind-warping. By contrast, most car engines at the time only made 20-50-hp, and terminal velocity was around 45-50 mph. To make faster cars, daredevils would shoehorn an aero engine into a lightweight road car chassis, complete with chain drive, and brakes that only "suggested" a change in pace. Many of these fire breathing 'aero cars' managed to set crazy land speed records. Like the 21.5L (1,312ci) 200-hp Blitzen Benz, which roared up to 142 mph---in 1911. A hundred-plus years later, getting more horsepower only requires an AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter. The goggles, scarf, and leather helmet are completely optional.

AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter with mounting bracket

The sturdy mounting bracket included with the 100-211 kit provides flexibility and secure placement.

The AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter comes with a powdercoated mounting bracket, which allows you to place the filter exactly where you want it. It can be connected to an existing cold air intake system or, you can use the AIRAID custom intake master kit, part of AIRAID's U-Build-It line of products, to create a truly custom intake system. This kit comes with everything from mounting hardware and brackets, to a super long roto-molded AIRAID intake tube that has different bends and angles molded right in. Each car build is different, and the AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter is designed to give you the performance that you're looking for, even if you can't find a stock system to fit.

Filter wrap for AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter

If you are using the 100-211 filter in dusty environments or would like the knowledge of having extra protection, the 799-450 filter wrap is available.

Thanks to the dual-layer SynthaFlow filter media, the AIRAID 100-211 filter can provide a high volume of clean air. Multiple layers of oiled cotton gauze create the outer barrier, which traps dirt particles. Any smaller contaminants that make it through the cotton layers, will get stopped by a second layer that's made from a proprietary unwoven synthetic material. This dual-layer design can keep dirt trapped until cleaning is needed. AIRAID recommends cleaning your filter between 30,000-50,000 miles (depending on road conditions). At which point you can simply un-clamp the filter, and clean it using the AIRAID filter tune-up kit.

The sturdy construction and proven performance of the AIRAID 100-211 universal performance air filter, allow it to be backed by the AIRAID No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty. If a defect ever causes it to fail, AIRAID will replace it free of charge. Add to that the nearly infinite reusability and this may well be the last air filter that you have to buy for this vehicle. If you would like to learn more about AIRAID custom intake components, visit the U-Build-It page, or you can use the AIRAID dealer locator tool to locate an AIRAID dealer near you.

Benefits of the AIRAID 100-211 Universal Air Filter:

  • Perfect upgrade for an existing intake system
  • Ideal for creating a custom intake system

AIRAID Driver Ken Thwaits Competes For His Fourth GT Class Win In The Optima Series

Ken Thwaits plans to attend every Optima Series Race for the 2016 Season

Advice, research, testing, and a good team are important tools that have helped Thwaits achieve his undefeated title

Advice, research, testing, and a good team are important tools that have helped Thwaits achieve his undefeated title

Optima’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car Race Series inspires racers across the country for various reasons.  Some racers attend this series for the sake of saying they did it while others come out to defend a title.

We last checked-in with AIRAID driver Ken Thwaits after his first win at Optima’s Thunderhill Raceway Park event in February.  Thwaits had successfully taken the win with his 2014 Camaro Z28 in the GT Class, while also earning him a spot to compete at the season finale race, the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI) at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  This invitation was one of a hundred that will be handed out through the 2016 race season.  The ten event series will lead into the final race in November, which will determine who has the ultimate street car.  Winning an event throughout the year is a huge accomplishment, however many racers use these ten events to prep for the final showdown immediately following SEMA.

The AIRAID sponsored 2014 Showtime Camaro took first at the last Optima race, making that Thwaits’ third win this season

Though Ken Thwaits’ initial goal was to secure his invite into the Optima Invitational, Thwaits had an additional vision in mind.  As the 2014 Optima Season Points Champion, Thwaits had to surrender his title in 2015 to driver Kyle Tucker of Detroit Speed and Engineering.  The overall points champion recognizes a driver that not only attends almost, if not all, of the Optima Series events across the country, they earn points throughout the year depending on where they rank at each event.  When the series comes to an end, points are accumulated for each driver and the overall winner is declared at the SEMA Show.

In order to claim the 2016 Points Champion title, AIRAID driver Ken Thwaits must accumulate enough points throughout the year to put him ahead of his fellow competitors

Thwaits is off to a great start in his mission to become the overall points champion.  With three Optima Series events in the books and a fourth on its way, Thwaits has placed first in the GT class at each event.  With the NCM Motorsports Park Race taking place in Bowling Green, Kentucky, this coming weekend, Thwaits has been shaking down both his 2014 Camaro and the 2006 Mitsubishi EVO before leaving the Showtime Motorsports stables in Nashville and heading to NCM Motorsports Park.

While Thwaits focuses on accumulating points, many other competitors are still racing for an invite into OUSCI.  With seven events left before November, there is still time for drivers to win their way into the final race, though competition will continue to get harder as time runs out.

Thwaits will continue to defend his title as GT Class Champion at NCM Motorsports Park

Ken Thwaits will continue the season racing both the 2014 Camaro Z28 and his 2006 Mitsubishi Evo at the remaining Optima events

As Thwaits preps for this weekend’s coming race, the AIRAID driver will have some tough competition ahead.  Rain during the last Optima race at New Jersey Motorsports Park event created some obstacles as many drivers struggled to get a couple clean and fast laps recorded before the rain hit.  Thwaits was one of those drivers who knew that the few laps he had before the rain needed to count in order to maintain his title and accumulate the most points possible at that event.  Thwaits accomplished just that, winning his third GT Class title.

We will continue to watch as Thwaits defends his title of GT Class Champion throughout the Optima Series.  If you would like to learn more about Thwaits or other AIRAID drivers, sign-up for the AIRAID newsletter.
