Ford EcoBoost-powered vehicles are all the rage these days, as they deliver the performance of a larger engine with the fuel economy of a smaller one. In the case of the EcoBoost equipped 2013-2015 Ford Escape and 2015 Lincoln MKC, this means V6 performance with four-cylinder mileage. EcoBoost engine displacements vary for these vehicles, from the 1.6L and 2.0L in the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Ford Escape, to the 2.0L and 2.3L in the Lincoln MKC. The secret to EcoBoost engines is the use of modern variable vain turbochargers, which harness exhaust gases to compress incoming air, thus force-feeding the engine with more air than it would otherwise draw on its own.

Turbocharged engines have a voracious appetite for air regardless of the engine’s displacement. Feeding a modern turbo taxes factory intake designs, which place a priority on noise abatement over free-flowing air. As a result, the intake systems are filled with noise-canceling baffles and restrictive intake boxes, which starve the turbochargers of air they can potentially move into the engine. Recognizing the shortcomings of the factory intake box is the first step in making more power.

Fortunately for 2013-2015 Ford Escape and 2015 Lincoln MKC EcoBoost owners, AIRAID has a solution for the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Ford Escape as well as the 2015 Lincoln MKC with a Cold Air Dam system that frees up airflow and improves the performance of compact EcoBoost engines. This system targets the most restrictive portions of the factory intake systems and substantially increases airflow, which equates to more power and improved combustion efficiency.

AIRAID’s Cold Air Dam (CAD) system for 2013-2015 Ford Escape and 2015 Lincoln MKC EcoBoost consists of specially formed Cold Air Dam panels that replace the upper half of the factory intake box. The 450-300 CAD system includes a filter that utilizes SynthaFlow oiled filter media in red. The 451-300 system uses SynthaMax dry filter media in red, the 452-300 system utilizes a SynthaMax dry filter in black, while the 453-300 system includes a SynthaMax dry filter in blue. With the oiled filter, the user washes and re-oils the filter using AIRAID’s 790-551 Tune-Up kit just like any traditional performance filter. With the SynthaMax dry filters, the user simply washes the filter using AIRAID’s 790-558 non-oiled filter cleaning solution and re-installs it. Both media styles filter incoming air the same and flow within 5% of one another, so which filter is best really boils down to personal preference.

Regardless of the filter style chosen, the AIRAID CAD system for the 2013-2015 Escape and 2015 Lincoln MKC can net power and performance gains that can be felt right from the seat.

The introduction of the 2015 Ford Mustang was a long-anticipated event, and Ford proved it is still a major force in the late-model muscle car wars. Ford’s latest pony car is available with three distinct engine choices: the potent 5.0L V8 Coyote motor, the 2.3L L4 turbocharged EcoBoost, and the 3.7L V6. With all the fanfare surrounding the 5.0L GT and the EcoBoost turbo engines, the V6 is sometimes overshadowed, but it’s still a great choice for an all-around daily driver.

The 2015 Ford Mustang 3.7L V6 delivers 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque while getting an EPA estimated 21 MPG. Those power numbers may fall a little short of the other two engines, but it’s still better than the first generation “289 Hi-Po V8” pony car that made the Mustang a legend. Mustangs have always been raced, 2015 Mustangs are no different, and this 5.0L GT used an AIRAID 450-329 race-specific intake to compete in a rolling half mile race

The 2015 Mustang has been extremely successful among performance enthusiasts, and thousands of people are already putting them through their paces on the track. But racers are always looking for an edge, something that will give them an advantage over the competition. Whether it’s on the drag strip, autocross course, or oval, Mustang owners are always looking for a little extra power.

Following up AIRAID’s successful MXP Series Cold Air Intakes for late-model Mustangs, AIRAID now offers new Race-Only Cold Air Dam (CAD) Intake Systems for 2015 Mustangs equipped with the 2.3L EcoBoost, 3.7L V6, and 5.0L V8. These new race-only air intake systems deliver what racers demand: maximum unrestricted airflow to the engine. Though these new systems will work with the factory tuning, they are designed to support the additional airflow requirements of other performance modifications.

The new race-only intakes start with Cold Air Dam Panels that take the place of the factory air filter box. These panels keep the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air while providing a very large forward-facing area to draw in cool outside air. The panels utilize factory mounting holes, so there is no drilling or trimming required for installation.

Blade-style weatherstripping positioned along the top of the CAD panels seals against the hood to further isolate the filter from hot under hood air. The design increases the path for cool outside air to reach the filter, but the unshrouded design does leave the filter exposed. For this reason, AIRAID strongly recommends that the intake be used in dry controlled conditions such as those experienced on a closed course or race track.

The AIRAID intake systems for the 2015 Ford Mustang 2.3L EcoBoost, 3.7L V6 and 5.0 L V8 GT include a large Track Day oiled filter. Normal AIRAID premium filters feature four layers of cotton gauze plus a synthetic layer for excellent flow and filtration characteristics. AIRAID Track Day filters utilize four layers of cotton gauze for even more airflow while keeping filtration at acceptable levels. AIRAID Track Day filters can be run dry or oiled by the user as an extra measure of filtration.

Application-specific air intake tubes connect the Cold Air Dam assembly to the throttle body on the engine. Designed to maximize airflow and eliminate restrictions, the 5.0L intake tube included with the 450-329 air intake measures 4” in diameter at the throttle body to accommodate an aftermarket throttle body, and also has a specially formed venturi to ensure accurate MAF sensor readings.

Like the 5.0L tube, the 2015 Ford Mustang 3.7L intake tube included with the 450-331 intake is larger in diameter than the factory tube and has a venturi for MAF accuracy. The 2.3L EcoBoost intake tube in the 450-330 system has a large 3.5” diameter opening at the turbo inlet to support turbo modifications. A special coupler necks down to accommodate the factory turbo, but the system is compatible with a larger diameter turbo by simply swapping to a larger coupler.

2015 Ford Mustang race intakes utilize AIRAID oiled Track Day filters that can be run oiled or dry depending on conditions

It is worth repeating that because of the exposed open-element design of the Cold Air Dam panels, AIRAID recommends these intake systems only be used in dry track conditions. AIRAID also strongly recommends the use of a pre-filter if used in wet environments.  Also note that the 2015 Mustang race-specific intakes delete the sound tube feature; block off caps are included for both the firewall and the intake tube. For everyday street use, AIRAID recommends its MXP Cold Air Intake Systems for the 2015 Mustang, which include the 450-326 for the 2.3L EcoBoost, the 450-327 for the 3.7L V6, and the 450-328 for the 5.0L GT. The 2015 Ford Expedition and the 2015 Lincoln Navigator are the latest vehicles to benefit from 3.5L EcoBoost engines, and they do an adequate job of getting these big SUVs moving.

Twin turbos demand a lot of air to run at peak efficiency, yet the stock intake system holds them back with restrictive baffles and undersized components. The 401-339 kit includes a filter that utilizes AIRAID SynthaMax dry media in red; the 402-339 system includes a SynthaMax dry filter in black, while the 403-339 system includes a SynthaMax dry filter in blue. All four filter options offer excellent airflow and filtration characteristics, so which filter to use really boils down to personal preference and taste.

Once free-flowing cool outside air is properly filtered, it is fed to the EcoBoost twin turbos with a new bifurcated intake tube. Constructed of roto-molded cross-linked polyethylene, the tube is engineered to eliminate turbulence and optimize airflow to the turbos. New couplers connect the intake tube to the turbos, while a premium hump hose attaches the tube to the filter adapter on the intake box. The hump hose absorbs vibrations from the engine, ensuring a durable, trouble-free connection. There are provisions for all of the necessary sensors and breather tubes, making for a simple upgrade with no modifications needed.

The 400-339, 401-339, 402-339, and 403-339 systems are among the more aggressive-sounding intakes in the AIRAID product line, as the restrictive factory baffles are eliminated in order to increase airflow to the engine. 2013-2015 Ram trucks with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine were built to haul heavy loads, but their pulling power can be improved even more with some simple AIRAID air intake upgrades

Since their debut in the early 1990s, the Cummins diesel engines in Dodge Ram pickups have become legendary among heavy haulers. Whether it's pulling a large toy hauler or delivering materials to the jobsite, thousands of people use Ram trucks every day for work and play. The 6.7L Cummins in late model Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups continues to build on the reputation of the earlier engines as reliable workhorses.  But truck enthusiasts know there's always more power to be had under the hood, and once again AIRAID delivers what Ram owners need with Modular Intake Tubes (MIT) and AIRAID Jr. systems for 2013, 2014, and 2015 Ram 6.7L Cummins Diesel trucks. The AIRAD MIT tube 300-986 is a simple upgrade that addresses a major shortcoming of the factory intake system on the 6.7L Cummins engine. The factory intake tube is undersized and filled with baffles designed to reduce engine noise, both of which introduce restrictions to the intake tract that hurt airflow. The AIRAID MIT tube replaces the restrictive factory tube with a larger one that optimizes airflow to the engine. This enables the engine to breathe easier and run more efficiently, which in turn improves throttle response and engine power. The AIRAID MIT tube is constructed of high density polyethylene for strength and resistance to heat transfer. The MIT includes new couplers and clamps that attach directly to the factory intake box and intake plenum, making for a clean installation that takes just a few minutes.

The AIRAID Jr. system 300-786 takes a diesel air intake upgrade one step further by combining a MIT tube with a high-quality drop-in replacement air filter for the factory air box. Constructed of reinforced polyurethane casings that are guaranteed not to crack or warp while maintaining a positive seal within the factory air box, AIRAID replacement air filters are available with traditional oiled media or SynthaMax dry filter media. Both media types provide excellent filtration without impeding airflow. Both filter types are also washable and reusable. Installing the filter is as simple as swapping out the factory paper filter with the AIRAID replacement, and both filter types are compatible with the Ram Active Air system built into the factory air box.

The AIRAID Jr. system with an oiled filter is part number 300-786, while the Jr. system with the SynthaMax dry filter is part number 301-786. The drop-in replacement filters are also available as a stand-alone upgrade with part number 850-357 for an oiled filter and part number 851-357 for a SynthaMax dry filter.

Whether the MIT tube and drop-in filter are installed separately or together with the AIRAID Jr. system, these upgrades allow the 6.7L Cummins to breathe easier and run more efficiently.
